Hello friends (old & new) and family! As of yesterday afternoon, All Square is officially HALF WAY THERE!!! So. So. So. Excited!!!!
This past week was one of the very best I’ve ever had. The All Square Kickstarter fundraisers in New Orleans and Washington DC absolutely could not have gone better. I was able to see and be surrounded by faces and places that have been so instrumental in my life these past ten years and it just made all the difference in the world as far as momentum is concerned.
As I said in my Facebook update yesterday, the number of people (almost 250 backers!) who have supported this project, this venture, just proves that so many fundamentally believe that we need to support those who are returning home from prison; and those with criminal records who just want to move forward.
During a time where there is just so much turmoil, so much anger, I can’t tell you all how thankful I am that you are supporting me, and those I’ve partnered with, in this work. It is saturated with meaning and light and I am so thankful you are all engaged in the way that you are.
Lastly, I’d like to add that this entire project is built upon a real and often crippling struggle. And though there is great excitement for all that is and for all that may be, there is also a keen awareness that we are building this space in response to so many who have been dismissed and overlooked. And it is in solidarity with and recognition of them that we hope to forge something truly…. meaningful.
And now??? On to (the other) 25K!!!!! I’m so committed to getting there and thank you each so very much for helping me. I'll be heading to New York City for the last stop on the All Square Kickstarter tour and cannot wait to see some of my favorite humans!!! For those of you in NYC, do come by The Wheelhouse in Brooklyn on Thursday evening (September 29th)!!!
OH, and did I mention that All Square is Kickstarter's "Project of the Day" today?! ;)
Big, big love ---
